  • About Turkey, İstanbul and Haliç Congress Centre
Turkey is an Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and Thrace in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe. Because of its geographical location, the mainland of Anatolia has always found favour throughout history, and is the birthplace of many great civilizations. It has also been prominent as a centre of commerce because of its land connections to three continents and the sea surrounding it on three sides.
Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and fourth largest city proper in the world with a population of 12.6 million. It is located on the Bosphorus Strait and encompasses the natural harbour known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country. It extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) sides of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world that is situated on two continents. As it was once the capital of the Ottoman Empire, İstanbul still remains the commercial, historical and cultural pulse of Turkey, and its beauty lies in its ability to embrace its contradictions. Ancient and modern, religious and secular, Asia and Europe, mystical and earthly all co-exist here. Its variety is one of İstanbul's greatest attractions: The ancient mosques, palaces, museums and bazaars reflect its diverse history.
The Haliç Congress Centre is the official venue for the XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work. The center is located in the area of Haliç (Golden Horn) and is perfectly suited to host high-profile events, conferences and exhibitions with its different types of halls and giant foyers.
