A. WORLD CONGRESSES ON SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK 1. General Information: Organized every three years since 1955, 19th World Congress on Safety and Health at Work will be organized in Turkey in year 2011. First Congress was conducted in Rome and the last one, the 18th, was conducted in Seoul in 2008. Congress, which gives the opportunity to exchange information and create new ideas for prevention of occupational diseases and accidents at work to all who participate, is the greatest event organized in this field. Figures, including location and other details of last six Congresses, are included in Table 1 below.

Object: The object of World Congress is ensuring opportunity of exchange of new information on occupational health and safety among related ones for the aim of introducing culture of prevention worldwide. The target of the whome to be participated at World Congress is to get an idea about how the relations will be enhanced among governments, employers, non-governmental organizations, employer representatives, employees and their organizations and occupational health and safety professionals in order to eliminate occupational injuries and diseases in whole world. It is also expected that occupational health and safety practicers will gain information on the practical ideas which could be immediately adapted and put into practice. 3. Target Audience: World Congress on Safety and Health at Work is related to the people directly or indirectly dealing with occupational health and safety:
- OHS engineers and technicians, hygienists, occupational scientists,
- High governmental authorities, high-level decision-makers, top managers, marketing leaders, occupational physicians and workplace physicians and ones working at occupational health field as well,

4. World Congresses on Health and Safety at Work and Co-organizers: At the preparatory stage of World Congresses on Health and Safety at Work co-organizers (mentioned below) work in close cooperation,

- International Social Security Association (ISSA)
- Host Instution of country responsible for OHS
In our country this duty has been carried out by Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
